Our Team.

There is nothing more inherently dramatic than silence during a high-stakes interview or heated negotiation. It is that awkward silence where the prepared, the revolutionary communicator, is at ease; no anxiety and zero racing thoughts, just rational and effective communication. No pseudoscience or tricks. Our team is guided by decades of experience and piles of peer-reviewed studies to help guide you through any high-profile case, investigative research, or any sensitive matter. This peace of mind is not found in "systems" or patented methods; it's found only in foundational human and people skills.

Christian Cory's bio:

I started off like every law enforcement officer wanting to help people in my community. My experience spanned diverse roles, from Patrol to the Sex Crimes Unit and Homicide Section. I also had the privilege of serving as a Crisis Negotiator for a decade. I was promoted late in my career and have been the Crisis Negotiation Team Commander and an Investigations Supervisor overseeing homicides, sex crimes, and officer-involved incidents. Currently, I am an Investigations Commander at a large municipal police agency. Policing is done in many different ways, but after doing thousands of interviews investigating my community’s most critical cases. I learned early that effective law enforcement, in every capacity, is all about effective and quality information gathering.

I studied Criminology (BS) at Kansas State University and Forensic Psychology (MA) at the University of North Dakota. Professionally, I am a National Institute of Justice LEADS Scholar, a Certified Red Team Practitioner, an Executive Fellow at the National Policing Institute, a graduate of the DC Metro Police Leadership Academy, and Co-Director of Project Aletheia at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice. I have loved collaborating with researchers and other practitioners from across the globe to bring evidence-based interview practices to my agency and many others. These techniques work, they work incredibly

well. They work on our toughest and most sensitive cases!

I love that ixi’s interview & interrogation techniques impact careers.

I’ve used them and seen them used in the most critical cases and

watched them work on complex investigations. ixi offers no under-

handed tricks, or worse, pseudo-science nonsense that is still heaped

on law enforcement officers today. At ixi, it is just effective

communication. Communication builds stronger cases, creates

better outcomes, and forges elite officers and investigators.

Jon Gould's bio:

My epiphany came when I was on the witness stand taking a grilling from an aggressive defense lawyer. They had just played my in-custody interview of his client, an interview I had once been proud of after I hammered a confession out of this child predator. His attorney took issue with my interviewing style. He pointed out what now seems obvious: I went into that interview with the unwavering belief that his client was guilty, and everything I did in that interview, every trick and manipulation I had been trained to do, was directed at getting a confession. Any denial or piece of conflicting evidence went unheard. I lost that case, for reasons not the least of which was my overzealous interview.

That experience was humbling, but it set me on the path to where I am now: a passionate advocate for effective and ethical interviewing practices. I have spent the years since reading, attending training, reading more, working with world-class researchers, and practicing a set of cutting-edge interviewing techniques in real, high stakes law enforcement interviews.

My passion for this topic has led me to share it with as many people as possible. We successfully implemented science-based interviewing practices at the largest police department in our state, and we even convinced our state academy to adopt it as the recognized best practice for investigative interviewing. We workshopped with the academy to help them integrate it into the state's basic training curriculum.

We have refined and customized our training to meet the specific needs of various stakeholders, and we would love to tailor it to your organization as well. These techniques apply not just to law enforcement, but to any industry, any company, any person wanting to elicit the most detailed and accurate information they can in an interview setting.
